Oh No Lenovo!

In Web Applications on October 28, 2009 at 4:33 pm

Lenovo has a great user-centric concept going with the “help me choose a laptop” function. (Plus, deals through today, October 28!)

But where the app falls flat is when there are no products that meet your criteria.  If you are designing an application like this, make sure your results always end up positive.  There are many ways to do this; you need only exercise some creative thinking about design!

Nothing to see here, move along now

  1. Note: Their saving grace? A good product (even if it’s not an exact match) at a killer sale price. If you offer the same, you might be able to convert browsers to buyers too. But in a highly competitive market where you are not the manufacturer and/or others can provide an exact match of desired traits/functionalities, best to design with these details in mind.
    P.S. I bought the laptop. 🙂

  2. The only thing that would make that error message better is a link to Dell.com 😛
